Episode 5: Off To See The Wizard
*sigh* The excitement seems to have died down.
They got back to Pembrose and had dinner with Lord Kyle. They even seemed surprised when he didn't mention another job he needed doing. As if they expected step-by-step instructions to find my tomb.
I did, however, enjoy the look on the tiefling's face when the gnome showed up - it was like he was seeing a ghost!
For lack of other ideas, they decided to go visit Crus. Of course they did; if there's anyone in the valley that knows anything about the Underdark, it'd be him. They almost forgot to ask him to translate my diary too - I mean, what good is having some cryptic writing if you don't know what it says? Could have been a shopping list for all they knew, but still they carried it around with them.
So they decided it was time to craft some magical items. Taernyl, that must have been boring to watch!
Finally, they decided they were ready to venture forth into the Underdark again, and entered under the Drake. The fools didn't even realize that they'd just get back to where they had explored before, and they ran into Vordek. Again. And let me say, he wasn't too pleased with them, either. I was certain that someone was going to die when the gnome threw some bones at the thief! But alas, I shall have to have patience.

Episode 4: The Hobgoblin Keep (Part 2)
The hobgoblins that survived regrouped in the dining hall. Weren't our little "heroes" so proud of themselves when a fireball wiped out some of the mooks! They were acting like they had accomplished something, never mind letting the orc escape. And they didn't even manage to kill the hobgoblin - Thugler, he calls himself - he tired himself out and bled to death. How pathetic.
And then, after nobly rescuing a few of the prisoners of the hobgoblins, they met Vordek. And oh, I hope the gods were watching, because those heroes sure could run fast when they encountered something a little frightening. All the more proof for my theory that they should not be running around in the underdark.
Before they left, they remembered that they had to venture beyond the barred door - and proceeded to walk straight into an ooze. Not only did they find themselves unable to get out, but a few of their friends had to dive in to save them! At least this group is serving the purpose of providing me with a little amusement. And then, after nobly rescuing a few of the prisoners of the hobgoblins, they met Vordek. Episode 3: The Hobgoblin Keep
Tsk, tsk. Run, little mortals, run! Run away from the scary Underdark, and don't come back! You'll get eaten alive by the horrors that live down here. Or perhaps you won't. Perhaps you'll just curl up into a fetal position and cry for your mommy after a taste of what the Underdark is like. The dark is too oppressive. The tunnels too narrow. The denizens too unnatural... I've heard it all before. These children are no different from any of the others.
Of course, it is only natural that they'd be running to Lord Kyle, with his spacious quarters and luxurious estate. Everything is so soft and simple there. A place for weaklings. Lord Kyle couldn't even get his soldiers to deal with the simple manner of hobgoblins, so he had to ask these pathetic adventurers to do it for him. And they almost said no! Too hard, they thought. They're just hobgoblins!
They arrived... what a surprise they were in for! These mortals need to learn something of stealth. Charging at a castle in broad daylight? It's a wonder more of them didn't fall into that pit trap. And they insisted on scaling the walls of the keep - at the highest point - without the aid of pitons, grappling hooks, or ladders. They may as well have tried to walk in the front door.
At least they managed to kill some of the hobgoblins...

Episode 2: The Locked Door
So no sooner did our "heroes" arrive in Pembrose than they wound up getting inebriated at the Drake, cheating at cards, and ending up in a bar fight. I'm sure they're not in Boris' good books by any stretch of the imagination after that. First day in town, and already trashing the place.
Boris had just found out that door in his cellar, the poor man had such a fright. Of course, he had no idea what it was, so he asked that mad druid in town to take on the challenge. I am impressed, however, that they managed to get through the door at all. For a while it looked touch-and-go. Through either determination or stupidity, they found Turbish's empty tomb. That gave them such a fright! But they did find the journal as well. How can it have been left there? Ah well, no matter, they have no idea what they have found. None of them ever bothered to learn the civilized tongue.
They found the burial ground as well, but were nearly defeated by a single cloaker, of all things. Although, I had forgotten just how useful those creatures are, I should have looked into purchasing some of them. That was just how the elf died last time; they found his map. It was quite amusing watching them attempt to garner some information from it; it really is terribly obvious, but these mortals are blind, in addition to being lazy, greedy fools.
The halfling stumbled into the chamber about then, quite unfortunate timing. He is a survivor, that one, a favourite of Gramalkin I am sure. Incredibly, the "heroes" decided to track him back to where he said he was imprisoned, and free the two dwarves. So easily distracted! And here I thought they were just in it for the treasure.
Just when I was beginning to question their motives, they came across a few treasure chests that they could not open. They decided that obviously, that meant that whatever was inside was worth having, and they nearly killed their entire group from the poison gas the chest was rigged to release. Perhaps next time they will have learned slightly, but I suppose that might be hoping too much.
Logically, next they must encounter the owner of the chests they just "liberated." I cannot wait to see how that plays out.

Episode 1: The Troublesome Troll
Ah, good news.
It seems some adventurers have taken an interest in my tomb. Well, this is inevitable. They are not the first to do so, and presumably, they will not be the last.
Still, it should be interesting to monitor their progress. I wonder if they will get further than the last group before they meet their untimely deaths? Gods, what fools these mortals be. They have such limited time to be among the living, yet they insist on cutting it ever shorter by pursuing that which they cannot have - namely, my treasure. Sarmgu's teachings, I have come to believe, are not for the short-lived.
These fools arrived in Bostwick today, and seem to have already managed to offend Jeffar. My, that woman is getting surly in her old age. They even asked her of me. Of course, she's too busy helping the helpless to do anything selfish, like hunt for treasure. Morgath's got it all wrong, if you ask me. Is there any reason why the powerful should not take advantage and live a life of luxury?
They had a chat with that tiresome half-elf, Elwynn, before Jeffar tricked them into rushing into danger without a second thought. The fools! The priest seemed to want to prove himself to Jeffar, and ended up seeing his Goddess much sooner than he was expecting, I think, when a troll easily ripped him in half. The rest of his companions nearly died as well. It was quite comical, indeed, but in the end, they managed to fumble their way to victory.
I believe that the only thing they got out of that encounter was passage on a barge heading downriver. Now that is what happens when laziness and greed coincide. It seems some adventurers have taken an interest in my tomb. Well, this is inevitable. They are not the first to do so, and presumably, they will not be the last.

Perhaps they'll have better luck in Pembrose, but somehow, I doubt it.
